So I made it back from Washington D.C. alive. It was actually pretty fun. We went with my cousins Ezra who's 13, Isaiah who's 11, and their little sister India who's 8.
We left Wendsday morning and got in at about the afternoon. 7 long hours in a hot minivan with torture next to me. We stopped at 2 rest stops along the way. Had some of the best fries of my life.
When we finally got to Washington D.C. it was 90 degrees!! I about fainted from the heat. We went to dinner that night and as usual my food came last so I wasnt hungry but i have to tell you the chicken i ordered was some of the best chicken i have ever eaten. I decided to eat it anyway. The next day we went to Mount Vernon. For dummy's thats George Washington's home. My cousin India came with us instead of my brother. Later that night my entire family and cousins walked by a river that had flooded so we could only see the bottom of the river. My brother pointed out a tennis ball that he had accidently thrown in while playing catch. My cousin Isaiah climbed onto a shorter pole and started dancing as much as he could on a pole that was half the size of his shoe. His sister climbed on and so did mine. Lastly I climbed on. My little brother tapped Isaiah's shoe and he started wobbling like crazy, almost falling backwards. The next day we went on the tour of the White House. We stood outside in 39 degree weather and pouring rain. I know I know I should be thankful I got to go, but seriously.... it was annoying. My Aunt Marrianne couldn't get into the White House so she left and went back to the hotel. Well, because she was my source of warmth i was left freezing my butt off. One White House room was bigger then my apartment. Apparently thats where they put the presidents that were assasinated, bodies. Thankfully they left after being put in the room to go to the graveyard. After the tour our cousins left and we went to a bakery for my moms birthday. The bakery we went to was called The Corner or something like that... so it was pouring rain i had on a thin sweater and leggings. Great outfit for pouring rain. Wouldnt you agree? We went to two museums after that. While we were walking to the Air and Space museum, my shoe decided to rip. my socks got all wet. Yes i said socks. Both shoes ripped. We got to the Air and Space museum, much better museum then the other one we went to, and i am sloshing in puddles. My entire sock is wet. Because I'm complaining so much my mom sits me down and takes off my shoes. She wraps my feet in plastic so now I'm slipping and sliding everywhere in my shoes. Thank G-d we went back to the hotel after that. Then we went for a birthday dinner for my mom. That place was so fancy with such bad burgers. Good mashed potatoes though. We went home the next day. I will never forget this vacation.
Well, that looks like a fun trip! I am so sorry you had to stand in the pooring rain, when you were going to do a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I have been to Washington D.C. before with my cousins. My family always tried to et tickets for the tour, but we never could. . . . Well, bye!
